San Antonio at Washington in WNBA
We’ve actually fared pretty well in our CFL and WNBA wagers here, so let’s stick with the WNBA. There’s just one game tonight and that’s San Antonio at Washington. Washington is favored by 9.5 points and the total on the game is 148.5.
The teams met a week ago and it was all Washington, as the Mystics cruised to an 88-53 victory, as they shot 57.1% and held the Stars to 34.9% shooting. Washington led 49-27 at halftime and didn’t slow down in the second half. The Mystics were only favored by 1.5 points, which seems a little odd considering their 11-7 record to San Antonio’s mark of 6-15.
Neither team shoots that great from the field, as San Antonio checks in at 41.8% and Washington is just 42.1%. Both teams are above average from the foul line in the 78% range, while Washington is better long-range, knocking down 34.4% of their 3-pointers compared to 30.5% for the Stars.
The main difference between the two teams is on the defensive end, as San Antonio allows 45.6% and Washington allows 39.9%.
San Antonio has been pretty bad on the road this season, scoring 68.6 points and allowing 81.5, as their opponents make 48% of the field goals. The Stars are 0-10 straight up but 5-4-1 against the spread when the visiting team.
Washington is 6-3 straight up at home and 4-5 against the number. The Mystics score and allow more points at home, and are 6-3 in home totals compared to just 1-8 when the visiting team. Washington is 4-1 straight up and 5-0 ATS in their last five games.
The road team was won and covered the last three games between the two, although it’s a bit hard to see the Stars coming away with the win here.
Although the trends are pointing to the over, going to have to go against the grain a little bit and take under 148.5. You have to believe that San Antonio will put forth a better effort on defense and don’t see Washington going 9 for 15 in 3-pointers again.
